Hello Writers! I hope you are working diligently on your creative pieces. I’m sure they are coming along great. Today, I am talking about a writing challenge I am giving myself.
During this past school year, my studies overtook practically all of my free time. This summer, I want to get some words on the page and make progress in my current story. At the moment, I have about 20,000 words done and want to reach about 60,000 words in total before revising and pursuing the piece further. In honor of NaNoWriMo’s first day of camp, I am dedicating my July 1st to writing all day.
Writing is a job. It is a different sort of work, but work none the less. Most professions require people to be in the office nine am to five pm. Aspiring writers still have duties to accomplish making the nine to five work day difficult to accomplish. This July 1st, I am dedicating all of my time to writing; hopefully, more than the nine to five work day.
My strategy is to wake up at a relatively decent time (seven or eight am) and get to work. I know I will have to take periodic breaks to stretch, grab a snack, refill my cup of tea, take care of the puppy, and so forth. But I want to write the rest of the time. By July 2nd, I know I will be exhausted…and probably too tired to write more. But, hopefully, I will be happy with my writing progress.
If you would like to participate alongside me, please let me know. I would love to have some company in this writing journey. Throughout the day, I will be using the hashtag #wordsonthepageathon. If you would like to follow my journey on Twitter or post your own daily progress, please feel free to use it.
P.S. I will try to keep a running vlog of my experience, so be sure to stay tuned over on my YouTube channel, Books Are My Hart.
