THE COZY MYSTERY BOOK TAG (ORIGINAL)

Welcome to The Cozy Mystery Book Club!

I am naming the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris. Aurora lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia; a small, quaint town that I would love to visit.

The Hallmark adaptations (starring Candice Cameron-Bure) always open with these scenic shots that just make me want to jump on a plane and fly to the fictional town.

Hannah Swenson. Hannah Swenson. Hannah Swenson. The Murder, She Baked series by Joanne Fluke follows Hannah Swenson, a local bakery owner and her sleuthing activities.

Detective Vic Donovan from Ellen Byerrum's Crime of Fashion Mysteries is Lacey Smithsonian's ex-boyfriend/boyfriend. Balancing love with wanting to sleuth can become a challenge.

Baking. I LOVE reading about bakers. All the fun without all the calories.

Hannah Swenson's cat, Moisha, is adorable. I love this little kitty cat.

The USA show Psych was such a success, it launched a book series. I am naming Gus as my favorite sidekick. "Psychic" Shawn Spencer's best friend, Gus, is absolutely hysterical. A pharmaceutical salesman who tap dances, keeps Shawn grounded, and makes constant jokes.

This is a difficult question since there are so many great cozy titles. I couldn't decide at first. In the end, I am naming, Cappuccinos, Cupcakes, and a Corpse by Harper Lin.

There are so many great holiday-themed cozies. One of my favorites is a Plum Pudding Murder by Joanne Fluke When the owner of the local Christmas tree shop is murdered and Hannah's mother is best friend's with the prime suspect, things get complicated. Plus, reading about Christmas-baked goods is a bonus.

I curl up in bed with my softest, plushiest blanket, my dog (Max), and a steaming hot cup of tea next to me. When I'm reading a cozy mystery, I prefer green tea.

family.jpg

The Shannon Family! In the Garage Sale mystery series, Jennifer Shannon's family is so supportive of her, no matter what she is doing. Whether she is running her secondhand store with her best friend, Dani, or sleuthing to find a murderer, her husband, son, and daughter want nothing but the best for her. It is so sweet. #GOALS

Similar to Psych, USA launched a book series after the success of Monk. Two of my favorite shows. Adrian Monk was a police officer until his wife, Trudy, died. After her death, he takes a leave of absence from the force and becomes a detective for hire. Monk has a lot of special skills, but I always thought playing the clarinet was extra special and interesting.

There are so many amazing cozies. As a reader, I find a cozy series that I like and just stay with it, reading one book right after another. I fall into a cozy and just stay there. Two of my favorites are the Aurora Teagarden series and Hannah Swenson series. In the end, I am naming Hannah Swenson as my favorite. I think the series does an incredible job of combining and showcasing a strong, independent, successful, smart, female character with her love of baking, fun secondary characters (her mother especially), relationship drama, and an adorable cat. What's not to love?
