According to the Romance Writers of America, RWA, the estimated sales of romance novels, in 2013, was $1.08 billion. There is a substantial interest in these pieces that continually draws in new people and has long-term dedicated fans who keep returning for more stories. So it is worth knowing, what the romance genre is.
Today, I posted my first ever readathon over on my YouTube channel. By not stressing myself out for my low-key readathon, I read **a lot**. By the end of the day, I read over 1,000 pages. If I am being completely honest, I surprised myself. I didn't expect to have read that much.
Congratulations to everyone who got their words on the page.!! WordsOnThePageAThon, the 24 hour writing challenge I created, came and went this past April 7th! I am so proud of everyone who wrote during the writeathon.
If you know me, you know I love romances. Plain and simple. First love stories especially. There is something about first love that just strikes a chord within me as the reader. No Filter is just that, my cup of tea – a first love, contemporary, coming of age story. This had all of my favorite YA literary elements in one. Needless to say, I read this in practically one sitting (with minor breaks to refresh my cup of tea).
