Reader Confessions Book Tag
By Angela Maria Hart
1. Have you ever damaged your own book?
Aside from the occasional coffee spill or teacup ring, the answer is no.
2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
Never! I tend to purchase my own books because I like to write in them. I can’t damage something that I never borrow.
3. How long does it take you to read a book?
The length of the book clearly impacts the amount of time required to finish it. My typical time range can be anywhere between three and six hours.
4. Books that you haven’t finished?
If I pick up a book, I am going to finish reading it. Now, that being said, if I read the first book in a series and don’t like it, I may not read the next one.
5. Hyped and or popular books you don’t like?
I’d rather focus on the books that I did enjoy. I will admit that the dystopian-inspired novels have started to feel redundant and or forced.
6. Classics you didn’t enjoy?
This may be a controversial thing to write, but I am not a fan of Mrs. Dalloway. I appreciate the unique style of writing and the literary value of it, but I would not have chosen that book if it had not been assigned to me…and it has been assigned to me on four different occasions.
7. Books you bought just for the intellectual-ness of it all?
I don’t purchase books just for the “intellectual-ness.” Granted, I own quite a few that other people may consider to be scholarly. My PhD student status requires “intellectual-ness” texts to be readily available.
8. Any books you haven’t given back?
I own my books and I am not letting them go.
